Bethany Church began in 1903 as an effort by a Christian Reformed Church to establish an “English-speaking” CRC in order to reach the next generation of Christ followers in Muskegon. Built on the corner of Terrace and Hartford, a commitment to loving God and neighbor within the core city has been central to our identity from the beginning. We are a diverse group of people from all walks of life seeking to live faithfully into God’s love together.
God calls Bethany Church and shapes us by God’s Word and Spirit to be a faithful presence of Christ in core city Muskegon.
We respond to God’s call by being and making disciples who
Embrace Christ’s beloved community through bible study, worship, prayer and fellowship
Embody Christ’s compassion especially for youth and neighbors
Engage in Christ’s commission to be ambassadors of love, justice and reconciliation.
On Sunday mornings at 10am we gather to worship through Word and Spirit. This weekly gathering gives structure to our four core practice of worship as a way of life. Our worship is centered on preaching from God’s Word and each element of our worship service helps us to express love to the One who first loves us. We believe that the life, death and resurrection of Jesus changes everything and we gather to orient our lives to that Truth each week!

JOIN a Family Group! Everyone who attends Bethany regularly is assigned to a ‘family.’ This is one of the many ways we put our Four Core practice of “Welcome & Care” into action. “Families” gather together for a time of fellowship at least 4x a year and are encouraged to provide care for each other as needed. Each group has an Elder & Deacon to help facilitate care for each other. If you don’t have a group yet we can assign you one! We believe in the transforming power of relationships!
