Worship at Bethany

Dynamic preaching is the cornerstone of worship and we are blessed to have Pastor David Sieplinga teaching and challenging us weekly. We join with churches all over the world in following the Lectionary scripture readings and the Church Year calendar as an outline for our morning worship services. The particular church year season is highlighted visually with appropriate colors in paraments, banners, candles, and flowers.

We have a rich tradition of excellent music that continues with our Adult Choir, Praise Team, and Praise Orchestra providing leadership each Sunday. We practice a blended style of music and worship that seeks to retain the strengths of the past while striving to present the Gospel in a culturally relevant way. To that end we blend hymns, both from the Reformed tradition and others; praise songs; gospel tunes; and music from various ethnic groups. We welcome the participation and leadership of our children and youth, whether they are worshipping with us or enjoying their own Children's Worship Services (for those in preschool through 2nd grade).

The sacraments of the Lord's Supper and Baptism are also part of the rhythm of our worship life at Bethany: The Lord's Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and Baptism, for both new believers and children of believing parents, is offered upon request.

Our 5 P.M. service is a smaller, more intimate gathering that tends to be more traditional in design. It also centers around praise singing and preaching, but more time is allowed for the sharing of concerns and mutual prayer.

We believe that, in many ways, worship is the heart of our church. We desire to be God glorifying and honoring in all that we do; but we also view worship as nourishment and preparation for the members who seek to bring God's kingdom to earth in various ministries and occupations in the city of Muskegon and beyond.
